Center of Racial Justice & Youth Engaged Research

The Center of Racial Justice and Youth Engaged Research (CRJ) positions youth of color as civically engaged leaders with the capacity to contribute meaningfully to policy, lead increasingly constrained communal conversations about equity and justice, and create tangible social change.

CRJ has reached over 1,000 youth across the Western, MA region over the past 3 years. From this reach we invite an annual cohort of youth to serve as the Center’s Youth Board. Each year the Youth Board has expanded, broadening our reach to local schools and communities.

We plan to use the donated funds towards the following areas:

  • Transportation for regional high school youth of color to learn leadership and civic engagement skills alongside UMass graduate students.
  • Cost of college credits for high school youth of color participants in our program.
  • Community engagement research programming for regional teachers and youth of color.
