Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about SBS Together.

What is #SBSTogether?

#SBSTogether is a 2-week online fundraising event from November 30 through December 11, 2020 when alumni, students, and friends of SBS come together to support their favorite areas of the College.

How can I make a gift?

During #SBSTogether, gifts can be made through this #SBSTogether website. All gifts given from November 30 through December 11 will count towards the #SBSTogether campaign.

Why should I give to #SBSTogether?

During this remote learning period, some SBS students have not had optimal access to technology in their homes or the resources to support themselves. Many have had to give up on internships or study abroad opportunities that have the potential to transform their futures.  Through it all, SBS students have been highly resilient, resourceful and downright plucky when they need to be.  The College has been working hard to honor their “can-do” spirit by supporting them during this difficult time.  But we need your help to ensure that they have access to opportunity no matter what the conditions are.

Can I gift to a specific SBS department or program?

Yes!  You can support any area of SBS.  Most areas are listed in the drop-down menu on the main campaign page.  Or, select the "GIVE NOW" button from the top of the page and choose the area you would like to support in the "Department or Program" drop-down menu, then select "Other" under the "Fund Designation" and you will then be prompted to write-in the specific area you wish to support.

What can I do to help get the word out about #SBSTogether?

We encourage you to post about #SBSTogether on social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Instagram using #SBSTogether. Help spread the excitement!

Where do gifts go?

Gifts are directed to departments and programs, which use funds to support student scholarships, internships, study abroad, and program activities, such as lectures, career days, and other events for their students.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. Like all donations to UMass, your gift is tax deductible, and you will be emailed a receipt for your donation in the coming weeks that can be used for tax purposes.

Is it safe to make my gift online?

Yes.  We do not store any of your credit card information. Additionally, the information collected when you make a donation is only used by UMass Amherst. It will not be sold or shared with any third-party organizations.

Is there a minimum gift amount?

Yes, gifts must be a minimum of $5.

I am having trouble making my gift.  Why won't it be accepted?

Be sure that the address you are entering on the form is the address affiliated with your card.  If the zip code you entered does not match the zip code associated with your card, your gift cannot be processed. Still having trouble? Email us at giving@admin.umass.edu.
